By Your Powers Combined: The Superteam Attack

A Superteam Attack is one of the coolest things a team can do. It’s a classic trope–two or more heroes using their powers in tandem to take down the baddie. These are impressive moves that combine the powers of multiple heroes in new and exciting ways. This is Colossus and Wolverine’s “Fastball Special.” It’s Thor supercharging Ironman

We wanted to make sure superteam attacks made it into the game. There were a few key elements that were important to us when creating this:

  • Superteam attacks should be awesome.

  • Superteam attacks should be rewarded for looking awesome.

  • Superteam attacks should be extra powerful.

Imagine your team squaring off against a mighty foe. You’ve been beaten down; you’re exhausted. You need to make a final push to take down the big bad. How do you do it? Teamwork, baby.

To perform a superteam attack, each player uses their superpower simultaneously and deals an extra 1d10 damage per player. These devastating attacks can be exactly what you need to turn the tide of battle.

They don’t just do extra damage, though. They look amazing and the public notices. Superteam attacks earn you extra Public Merit, which can be used to call in favors, gain new pieces of equipment, and upgrade your current gear.

One of my favorite moments from a recent demo at The Green Dragon Inn was a superteam attack: two players teamed up using the Phasing Aura and Ice Blast powers to take down the final enemy. They described it as the enemy being phased in and out of reality while shards of ice fused throughout the enemy’s body. This was such a fun moment and I’m so excited to see what others do with their superteam attacks.
